Secrets in the Room

Mr. Roberts waited outside the conference room. To say he was patient however would be inaccurate. For three days those scientists had been discussing formulas and theories all based on these “phenomenal detections” that had been recorded. They had boasted how amazing a find it was, how spectacular! But the whole time they refused to tell anyone but vague answers even though he was the one investigating.      “What do they mean? Do the readings have to do with the monster?”      “No. They don’t have anything to do with the monster or what happened. We didn’t know at all what they meant at first, but it really is a phenomenal find. Something we had no clue about and may explain the incident. But don’t worry about it. It doesn’t concern you or what happened.”      “You aren’t making any sense!” The speaking from both sides irked him. It was unexplainable why anything related (or not related) should be so secretive.  ...

Unusual Detections

No one moved. They only stared at the dark grey metal doors and then—cautiously they began to open. Pulling down a lever, the head sheild attendant turned on the hover-craft. A soft humming noise mingled in with the whirr of the opening door. The moment there was enough clearance, the sheild generator shot out a hot pink beam that bent outward in a wide energy sheild. With a shout, the captain then ordered for the hover-craft which was carrying the sheild generator to proceed forward. As they did so, the shield kept bending towards the helicopter netting everyone in a protective cover. Half a dozen men carefully manipulated various lift and steering controls in a strategic balancing act to navigate the hover craft over the ashen logs to the edge of the damage. All this happened while a couple of those men laid a watchful eye on various graphs tracking surrounding waves that would affect the shield. “Okay! Let’s move it!” the Brazilian captain shouted in Portuguese. ...

An Investigation Begins

Mr. Robert could barely control himself. He had just finished a meeting with James Jordan who mentioned something mysterious and unnatural. Something that he only briefly witnessed flash into the shadows, but that something was what caused the catastrophic incident. Now at the moment, Mr. Robert was on the phone with an acquaintance that that happened to be a lead biologist that worked with G.U.L.E.A. from time to time.  “What’s going on?” Dr. Mitchell A. O’Connell asked. “Alright, so you’ve probably heard on the news about the incident G.U.L.E.A. had, right?” Mr. Robert began. “Yeah, I saw that report. They said no one’s sure what caused it. Do you know?” Mitchell inquired, expecting this to be the purpose of the phone call. “No, but I just finished speaking with one of the survivors, and the things he described intrigued me. I thought you might be able to help.” “Continue then.” “He said he woke up the night it happened and saw something dark flash past...

Meeting with G.U.L.E.A.

James mostly lay back in his seat silently watching the landscape pass by outside. Other cars, people walking down the street, trees, buildings, a fountain, some rental bikes, a wine tasting joint, everything in a typical city progressing in a seemingly typical day. James tried his best to absorb the normal groove of time hoping it would soothe his rushed life. His peace lasted until up ahead came the famed G.U.L.E.A. headquarters into view. The golden-glass windows rising up for several stories lined on the sides with solid black stone for the corner edges seemed like the fire that sparked James back into a serious disposition. Beyond the fiery taste, the top sank downwards directing room for the center where a gigantic 120 foot glass sphere—this time silver—stood surrounded by trees and flowers of all kinds growing along the downward slope.  A moment later he was standing on the curb, Uber driving away, ready to go in for whatever crazy post-disaster meetings was awaiting him...

The Awakening

Hey, everyone! Wow! A whole month has gone by, and I am soon sorry I haven't made another post yet! That's right, there's definitely way  more to come, and this story ain't ending just yet (from where we left off last that would be horrrible! ). We still have yet to reveal the meaning behind our stunningly enigmatic name which is soon to come in another post or two. So...let's get rolling!                                                                       *                      *                      * “Hello! James! Can you hear me!” Reluctantly, James opened his eyes. Only a groan escaped his lips. A headache was coming on, and his exhaustion was still looming around.  ...

A Mysterious Strike in the Night

Image
Beaded with sweat, James suddenly woke up with a start. It was only a little after midnight with darkness consuming the camp like the bottom of a mine, and the air was humid and stuffy, yet James was wide awake now. His quick arising in his mosquito-net covered hammock had flung it off balance and upside-down, twisting him in the classic hammock mess. Normally he would’ve slowly undid himself in a lethargic manner, but his sudden fright still held him in a sleepless grip. Breathing heavy and fingers fumbling, he quickly undid the zipper and fell out on his knees. Wet, cold mud oozed onto his thick pants. He was quite awake now. The sudden fall and the freezing wet sensation on his legs only made his nervousness worse. He speedily stood up and looked around him in a panic. Taking a few more deep breaths, he managed to calm down a little bit and think more effectively. Pausing momentarily, he noticed an unusual silence that sat inside his stomach. Almost as eerie as the silence wa...

Rainstorms

All day was spent in structured wandering. At least, that’s one way to phrase exploring. For Day 1, James and Mark explored around the landing point to check the surrounding terrain while staying within eyesight of the others. Cole followed along while recording coordinates and taking pictures. The Doc and Juan, the local biology specialist, stayed at the landing spot observing the surrounding wildlife and taking detailed notes of the colorful plants, tall thick trees, and curious bugs and small mammals they saw, experiencing what I would say was the most interesting job. As for Joe, he placed a infrared scanner on a tripod, which he very carefully monitored through his MacBook Pro, to watch for any approaching life that could prove hazardous to their safety. After the morning had past and afternoon was coming on, everyone gathered all together for lunch and to chat about their progress. “Well,” James said while chewing, “I’m pretty certain that we can travel farther north as p...
